Meghan Gallagher

Head of Operations

Meghan has two decades of leadership experience in health and social services, bringing deep operational insight, regulatory expertise, and a passion for high-impact care to her work. She has a proven track record of leading complex programs while ensuring full compliance with local, state, federal, and funding-specific regulations.

Her extensive background in hiring, training, and staff development has been the foundation to creating our responsive and resilient organizational culture.

Before joining Sorrel Leaf Healing Center, Meghan Gallagher built her career in social services and residential care leadership. As Social Services Manager at Area 1 Agency on Aging, she oversaw multiple programs, managing staff, budgets, compliance, and new program development while ensuring services aligned with community and tribal needs.

Previously, she served as Executive Director at Alder Bay Assisted Living, where she led operations for a 24/7 facility, overseeing staff, finances, and regulatory compliance. She was promoted from Director of Resident Services, where she coordinated care and strengthened relationships with residents, families, and healthcare partners.

Meghan began her career in direct care, developing a strong foundation in hands-on service, crisis response, and client advocacy that continues to shape her leadership approach.

Outside of work, Meghan enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and backpacking with her two dogs, as well as swimming and snorkeling whenever she can. She also values quieter moments at home, often curling up with a good book and her two cats.

My Approach

I approach my work with a strong belief that people come first, leading with friendliness and genuine empathy in every interaction. I strive to practice servant leadership by supporting and empowering those around me, removing barriers so teams can do their best work. Creating a welcoming, inclusive culture is a priority—I aim to make everyone feel valued, heard, and respected. By fostering trust, collaboration, and care, I help build an environment where individuals and teams can thrive.

Favorite Recipe

My grandma’s homemade flour tortillas. They were always a staple in her house and are involved in most of my favorite family memories.

Favorite Book

“The wild trees” by Richard Preston." It’s an amazing story of the costal redwoods and one of the reasons I decided to move to Humboldt.
